Team
An incredible team of Interns and Peer Support Specialists bolsters my capacity to provide accessible mental health services.
Peer Support Specialists
In the United States, healthcare under capitalism has created often insurmountable barriers to accessing care. Our institutionalized systems of education and licensure function as gatekeepers to healing, while the practices of mutual aid and community care are marginalized. Peer Support offers an alternative to this colonial system: care is provided by community members who have accumulated wisdom through both institutional and informal learning, and services are made accessible through sliding scale rates ranging from $25-$100. My name is Mohsin Kazim (they/them) and I am a Peer Support Specialist based in Brooklyn. As a Peer Support Specialist, I facilitate an affirming, collaborative environment where we can explore issues surrounding identity, activism, relationships, and self-esteem. I use a combination of lived experience and formal education/training as the foundation for a justice-oriented model of community care.
Peer Support is a low-cost, accessible option for those: 1) seeking supplemental support beyond traditional therapy - e.g. if you are looking to discuss specific, potentially identity-related, issues with someone who shares your lived experiences, or 2) financial circumstances (income, health insurance) limit your access to traditional mental health care.
I have completed one year of my Master’s of Social Work at Columbia University, where I worked as a counselor and facilitator of a queer support group for high school seniors. I also have direct experience working with queer & BIPOC communities, children of immigrants, activists, students, and young working professionals. My lived, academic, and professional experience with navigating systems and changing careers has also lent me the opportunity to offer support services surrounding executive functioning, motivation and time management, and other forms of trauma-informed care.
I operate on a sliding scale from $25 - $100 and have availability across this scale. Recognizing that formal psychotherapy can often pose barriers through insurance providers or high fees, Peer Support is a great option if you are looking for an accessible, community-based form of healing work

Clinical Interns
I received my supervision certification (SIFI) from Columbia School of Social Work in 2018 and have founded and developed internship programs in both nonprofit administration and clinical mental health practice settings. As a psychotherapist in private practice I now supervise clinical mental health interns from Masters-level social work and mental health counseling programs. All interns see clients on a sliding scale from $25-$125 based primarily on income and factoring in major financial commitments (student loans, dependents, etc.). [Intern]
I have space for one MSW/MHC intern for the 2026-27 academic year. Please reach out via the contact page if you’re a graduate student interested in working with queer and non-monogamous clients through a psychodynamic, somatic, and narrative framework!
